Happy Beaujolais Nouveau Day!

Happy Beaujolais Nouveau Day!

What is this? It’s the third Thurday in November (this year November 16th) and the day when the newest vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau is released for sale. The day is met with festivals and parties and tastings and celebrated throughout France. bdlogo

Beaujolais Nouveau is made from the Gamay grape grown in the Beaujolais province of France. It was created as a “vin de l’année” to celebrate the end of the harvest season. All grapes must be grown in Beaujolais and must be harvested by hand. It is bottled very young, after only a few weeks of fermentation and is meant to be enjoyed immediately. Because it is so young it has a very fresh, fruity and clean taste.

This year The Wine Vault is has a selection of Beaujolais Nouveau from several different producers across Beaujolais. Come in and see what we’ve got and pick up a bottle (or three). Stage your own festivities!

September Wine Club Wines have arrived

Summer is winding down but not our wine club! Our Vault Masters have two great selections for you to try this month. Check out what’s in store and stop in and pick up your selections now!

Evaluna Cabernet del Garda DOC 2014evaluna

Silty/morainic soils with the presence of clay are well-suited soils for Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Sandy soil elevates aromatics and creates softer wines, showing less tannin. The presence of clay allows a balancing act to sand, offering higher extract and color. Vinifying in stainless allows for the fresh red fruits to emerge together with peppery characteristics of the Cabernet duo.

Imagery Chardonnay 2016imagery

With a pale gold hue, the 2015 vintage opens on the nose with the fresh, light scents of melon and white peach. A flintiness comes through on the palate—evoking the impression of a first summer rain—and an initial tartness carries throughout. Delicate flavors, along with the wine’s minerality, build toward a lingering finish, crisp and dry and calling you back for another refreshing sip.

Lavignone 2015lavignone

Barbera d’Asti Lavignone is a bright and aromatic wine with aromas and flavors of red cherries, violets and wild herbs. Soft tannins and a moderate level of alcohol and medium weight make Lavignone an ideal wine for immediate enjoyment. It can be served at room-temperature or slightly chilled and with a wide range of foods.

Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc 2015emollo

With a pale gold hue, the 2015 vintage opens on the nose with the fresh, light scents of melon and white peach. A flintiness comes through on the palate—evoking the impression of a first summer rain—and an initial tartness carries throughout. Delicate flavors, along with the wine’s minerality, build toward a lingering finish, crisp and dry and calling you back for another refreshing sip.
